Prizewinner in the category Materials_Innovation

Cologne, january 17, 2006 - On the opening day of the imm cologne 2006, January 16, Phi-ton B.V. a fast-growing organization operating in the international sleeping systems market has been granted the interior innovation award cologne 06. The Phi-ton products, designed by Fried-Jan Unger, have been awarded for the development and utilization of 3D braided fabric.

3D braided fabric
This high-tech material is one of the most exciting products to be developed by textile engineers in years. Only Phi-ton is using it exclusively in 'Sleeping comfort in the 3rd dimension': daring designer beds and innovative mattresses and pillows. A worldwide premiere that makes it possible to meet all requirements for sleeping comfort. Because the material obtains its volume from millions of interwoven polyester fibres, 3D braided fabric offers excellent pressure relief, extraordinary air and moisture permeability, and optimal hygienic properties.
